The Originator of Game-Speed Training

I created Space-Time Progressive Overload in 1993 — before VBT, before COD protocols, before game-speed became a trend.

Endorsed by Prof. Yuri Verkhoshansky, the father of plyometrics. Published globally by FIBA. Implemented with Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Branded "Il Mago del Basket" by RAI national television. Now returning to elite sport.

Carlo Bressan's computer music is ideal for performing the complex trajectory and rhythmical structure of specific playing movements. This is not simply exotic. It's a very good idea and an unusual way of its realization.

Prof. Yuri Verkhoshansky

Pioneer of Plyometric Training • Co-author of Supertraining

Bressan's Methodology is very ingenious. Music and Basketball can positively impact our youth and become a new way of training, like Spinning in the Fitness World.

President, Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) • Corriere dello Sport

Everything you see in modern speed training — I was doing it when most coaches were still in school.

1993

Created STPO Framework

Developed Space-Time Progressive Overload — systematic intensity escalation across spatial, temporal, and cognitive dimensions for game-speed skill training.

1994

Published in ASSIST Magazine (Italy)

First major publication documenting the methodology — 7 pages on rhythm-based velocity training for basketball fundamentals.

1996

Olympic Team & FIP Recognition

Led STPO training camps with Italy Women's Olympic Team preparing for Atlanta 1996, under Coach Riccardo Sales. FIP created a new position category — preparatore tecnico-atletico — because no existing certification could classify this work. Selected as preparatore atletico for the All-Star Game.

1997

Verkhoshansky Endorsement

Prof. Yuri Verkhoshansky, the father of plyometrics, personally validates the methodology in writing after observing work with Italy Women's National Basketball Team.

2002

Paralympic Results

Beth Arnoult: World ranking #42 → #18 in 3 months. World Champion doubles. USTA "Most Improved Female Player of the Year."

2004

Global FIBA Publication

"Basketball Training at the Speed of Sound" — published in FIBA ASSIST Magazine, distributed to 212 countries worldwide.

STPO — Space-Time Progressive Overload

The prescription layer that translates performance data into real-time athlete adaptation.

Space

Directions, angles, distances, court coverage, opponent-relative positioning. Progressive escalation of spatial demands.

Time

Execution velocity, timing windows, rhythm synchronization, recovery intervals. Precise tempo-controlled progression.

Cognition

Pattern recognition, decision points, focus under fatigue, timing mindset. The mental dimension integrated with physical.

Validated at the highest levels.
